COVID - SAFETY REGULATIONS
We are the first overnight retreat in the diocese and first group to meet at Fort Worden since Covid started.
The SJHM Covid-Safety Committee submitted a safety proposal to Fort Worden which they approved. It was then submitted to the Seattle Archdiocese Safe Environment Program and they approved it as well as did Bishop Mueggenborg.
MANY CHANGES FOR THIS RETREAT
SILENT RETREAT!
One of biggest changes. I never wanted this retreat to be a silent retreat, but the one way people ignored the six foot rule was to talk - to hear. This will be the first silent retreat we have held.
MASKS MUST BE WORN
Masks must be worn inside of buildings at all times (except in your bedrooms), and outside whenever within 6 feet of others.
REGISTRATION TABLES IN TWO PLACES - IN NEW AREAS
This is to help with congestion. The two registration areas will be in Barracks 225, inside the two doors with the code locks on them. One will be in room 29, the other in room 34 (the room we always used for a Chapel.) Only one person in the room registering at a time.
FORMER CHAPEL (ROOM 34) AND PRAYER TEAMS
After Friday Registration this room will become a prayer room for Prayer Teams. It will not be the Chapel this year. Prayer teams will also be across hall way from Room 34 and also prayer teams will be by room 29 Saturday night, and by the coded entrance door Saturday Night.
CHAPEL IN ROOMS 91-92
This is at the end of the gathering space by the kitchen. Chairs will be placed 6 feet apart throughout the gathering room for silent adoration.
STAY IN YOUR ROOM WHEN IN THE BARRACKS
When in the Barracks, (Dorm 225) one must be either in their bedroom, bathroom, in Adoration, or in the process of going from one event to another.
FOOD TO BE EATEN IN YOUR ROOMS
There will be no eating in the gathering room. Nor gathering in the gathering room, except for Adoration.
There will be no shared food at this retreat. (Oh what changes this Covid is bringing about!) The Cafeteria will make up box lunches for us which we will take to our rooms to eat.
We will have Sunday breakfast as a box lunch from the Fort as well.
RETREAT WILL BE HELD IN THE COMMONS, ROOMS A, B AND C. This is at the request of the Fort. At 25% capacity of the rooms, it enables us to have 65 people, whereas at the Wheeler Theater, we would only have 63.
PROCESSIONS
Remember to keep 6 feet apart.
NO LAYING ON OF HANDS
This is a hard one for a healing retreat. But in the 15 years that I was with Sister Mary Matthew, we could not lay on hands for healing, nor pray for physical healing out loud. The Lord blessed our obedience with many healings. We are depending upon healing through Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament -Our Lord God and Savior! the True Source of Healing.
BATHROOMS IN THE BARRACKS (225) ARE LIMITED TO TWO PEOPLE AT A TIME
SIT IN THE SAME PLACE WHILE IN THE COMMONS BUILDING.
COST IS UP.
We have tried to keep the cost of the Retreat at $200 for many years. The Fort is offering us three rooms in the Commons for the cost of renting the Wheeler Theater. We normally have 100 people come to the retreat, but with fewer people, the cost has to go up.
PLEASE SUPPORT A SCHOLARSHIP
There have been some generous donors this month to help us lower the cost to $275. As it is, we are depleting the funds in the Retreat account so we do hope for contributions, not only for scholarships for about ten people to go, but also to build this account up again. These scholarships are for the priests and religious that come, and some who have financial difficulties and need help to come and also lots of prayer for healing.
