ANSWERING THE PROPHETIC CALL TO MINISTRY
"Here I am, Lord! Send me!"
Has this been your cry?
Have you been touched by God, and you want to respond? You want to serve, but how do you go about it? How do you discern God's plan for you?
St. Joseph Prayer / Healing Ministry is a ministry that fits into your own parish. You don't have to travel. We have 21 talks on the prayer ministry that are available on 9 DVDs. They teach how to pray with people with more assurance. It teaches the charism of intercessory prayer with and for the person who comes to you in need. These DVDs were made by Sister Mary Matthew, CSJP and Sister Mary Frances, CSJP.
Auxiliary Bishop Eusebio Elizondo of Seattle Archdiocese has reviewed the materials for the class and said they were orthodox and that he found nothing wrong with them. He joins Cardinal George, Bishop Sklystad, Bishop Leveda, in their approval of the material.
You may be sitting in your car and a friend comes up and starts talking, telling you his/her problems. You ask, "May I pray with you?"
Or you have a friend in the hospital. What do you say? How do you pray with them?
In our parish, the members of our ministry pray with people after the last Mass, the 3rd Sunday of the month. We meet with them in a private room and join with them in lifting their needs up to the Lord.
If you are interested, let us know. We can come to your parish and explain our ministry to see if there is any interest. This is a parish ministry, so your pastor needs to be informed and his blessing and permission given.
Many Charismatic prayer groups take these classes to establish an outreach or extension of their ministry. They are already praying for people at their meetings. This goes to a one-on-one situation - actually two on one, as we go out two by two. The classes help form teams.. Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers that bring the Blessed Sacrament to the sick are encouraged to take these classes as they often have the opportunity to pray with those they are visiting.
A friend said to encourage the young adults to take this class. She did when she was 18 and it focused her life toward God and the Church that never changed.
This course is like 101 in prayer ministry and covers all aspects of ministry within a parish.
We will be happy to come to your parish if we have the permission of your pastor, and if it is our first time in your diocese, the permission and blessing of the bishop.
